ESOL II Project

This blogspot is dedicated to my ESOL 2 semester project. It features an interview I conducted with an English Language Learner from Thailand. After I asked her several questions about her efforts and progress at learning English, I gave her 3 short reading passages. The passages progressed in degree of difficulty. Her reading is very good. She made no errors in regard to omitting or inserting words. However, at times, she demonstrated poor pronunciation. Aside from the readings, her answers to my interview questions indicated errors in spoken syntax. She occasionally left out articles or prepositions. She also hesitated and thought for the words she needed to express herself, and I provided the words for her. The podcast interview is provided on this blogspot along with a webquest I designed with her in mind. The webquest contains lessons using minimal pairs in order for her to build her phonemic awareness and improve her pronunciation. I also created cloze procedures mostly with prepositions in order to direct her toward better syntax. Anyone looking to improve their pronunciation and syntax may find my webquest helpful.
